To me, above all, commitment.  Feelings come and go, wax and wane.  Times can be great, and times can be hard.  After 25 years with my dh, I know that sometimes you can love someone and not really like them very much at the moment.  But through it all, we have an unwavering commitment to each other.  We are faithful, respectful, and wouldn't want to hurt each other because we are committed to living life together and being each other's biggest fans.  It is hard sometimes, and it is easy sometimes - but it is satisfying to look back at all that we've been through in life and know that we have made each other better through it all.
