Is this normal?? What would you have done?

Yesterday we went to a birthday party for a friend of my dd's. We got there and the kids played for a while. Then it was time for food. The kids had the option of hotdogs or pepperoni pizza. Now my DD will eat them...but she isn't a huge fan. The adults could have chicken fajita's or brisket. Both of which my dd loves. I made my plate and gave DD her plate. She ate her once slice of pizza alloted and came and said she was still hungry. I gave her a few bites of my brisket and then she took off. The mother got mad at me for sharing the food on my plate. She said all the other kids would want the adult food now. My kid did not run off while eating the food. I did not take extra food. And I think one slice of pizza or one hotdog for 9-11 year olds in unrealistic.
Was I wrong to share my food with my DD?
Forgot to add...one of the adults wanted pizza and the mom said no.
I always make sure there's plenty for everyone, kids and adults.
Quoting alexsmomaubrys2:That is weird. I would have done the same thing. Of course we always have way more food than needed at parties. It is horrible for guests to leave hungry.
I don't understand why your friend would be mad, it doesn't make much sense. I've never been to a party where there were seperate foods for children and adults, everyone was allowed to eat what they wanted until it's gone. If they didn't have the finances to allow more food, I don't understand why they just didn't make it hot dogs and pizza for everyone or fajita's or briskets for everyone.
That mother seems quite controlling. The purpose of a party is for everyone to have a good time, bad hostess. You were not in the wrong at all..
I have heard of portion control but that seems a bit overboard. and I don't think you are wrong, I mean isn't it a mommy thing to give your food to your kids if they are hungy
