My friend's daughter is 15 and wants to be a professional softball player. We were talking about it over lunch and I asked if she has a back up plan because it's very hard to become a pro softball player. I went on to say that even though, it may work out, most pros have been practicing since they were little. I even said that she may be able to do it but it's such a competitive field, she might want to look in to a back up plan.
My friend got really offended. She said I was calling her kid a bad player and saying she wasn't good enough. I wasn't trying to be rude, I was just suggesting that because I would hate for her daughter to not get a pro spot and then have no other plan.
