My oldest sister is my half sister, but that was never disguinshed to us, she just had a different last name. My mom NEVER spoke of being married before. I was snooping through my sister's things one night and came across a manilla envelope with the newspaper articles and pictures of him and her (my sister's dad). It gave me shivers. My mother is such a quiet, soft-spoken person. I just couldn't even imagine.
My great aunt had an affair with her sister's husband and got pregnant and when he refused to leave his wife she poisoned him with rat poison and no one knew exactly how he died until she was on her death bed and told everyone who would listen. The child according to my mom just showed up one day and her grandparents said they had adopted her when it was actually their grandchild.
My mom's last long term SO robbed a bank with his brother to get money to save his family's farm.
Cousin Terry shot his brother Bobby when they were messing around, drunk, with guns. Both of their pregnant wives witnessed it. Their sons were born 3 months apart.
Cousin Tane was caught hanging out in her bed with some of her then 13 yo son's friends. A few years after her asshole husband divorced her, got custody of their daughter (but he didn't want her son, even though he'd adopted him and refused to let him see his real dad.) He immediately started dating her niece and married her and had a baby with her. Now Tane's a meth/crackhead and she's got her daughter into it too for a while.
My grandmother got knocked up by a soldier shortly before he shipped out to the Pacific during WWII so my mom never knew her father.
