The sink.

Every so often, fine. Special occasion, fine. Every night? Fuck no. I grew up with an alcoholic. I won't allow it in my home now.

**he did apologize after I dumped it**

*update*

We talked.
I started off by apologizing for reacting without talking first. He apologized, and said he was being selfish. I told him my fears, and he admitted to using it as a crutch. He got mad at himself, then thanked me for dumping it.

His words: I don't want to end up like my father. I don't want to lose you guys.

Edit***
Since I hate to repeat myself
1. no, he is not an alcoholic. Alcoholism runs on both sides of our family, and its hereditary. One a night can easily turn into a problem.
2. Our baby sleeps in a co-sleeper next to our bed. Sometimes he wakes up with ds and lays him down to nurse without waking me. One beer makes him very tired, and he has fallen asleep with ds on the bed. Thankfully, one of us has always woken up and moved him. It only happens when he drinks.

Good for you for not allowing and and good for him for recognizing that it could balloon into a bigger problem. I also grew up in a home with alcoholics. It wasn't a good environment.

I do that all the time. I could care less. He can drink but once he gets drunk, he's done. And especially if he hasn't eaten that day because he was "so busy working" well if you haven't eaten don't expect to drink either. He gets obnoxious and rude, demeaning and argumentative so I don't do this for my own pleasure or just because. There are reasons. I can't stand my df when he gets drunk or even buzzed. Annoying!

ugh, that sounds terrible. beer with lunch? i'll pass. i don't give a fuck what europeans do.. drinking daily, mid-day especially, is gross.

I guess most Europeans are alcoholics, by your standards. I lived in Belgium for over 4 years, and they drink beer with lunch, while on the clock.

They have a totally different attitude toward alcohol over there.

I am not arguing I am stating. It runs in my family and I know how to have 1 beer and so does my brother. It's called taking responsibility.

Quoting Anonymous:

Ok, if you want to argue I'll just let it be. Have a nice day

If one is not paying attion.

Quoting Anonymous:

Agreed, but one beer a night can easily turn into two.. then two can turn into three... So on, and so forth. Alcoholism is hereditary, and easy to fall into.

Quoting Anonymous:

IMO there is a difference between a beer a night and getting drunk every night. But do what is best for your family. Family always comes first and if that means the understanding of having a drink here and there that is what it means. Everyone in the house needs to respect it.

Way to go controlling what your hubby does, and jsut for you I'm going to have a beer or two or six tonight.

Quoting Joels-My-Love:

I do not let my DH ever drink. Alcohol will never be around my children. You should never ever drink if you are a parent.

Thats nothing. My dh would drink a 6 pack almost every night. Even when he got the cheap crap it was $50+ a week on just beer. His mom used to bottoms up a tequila bottle and now has been sober for 10 years. I don't want him to turn out like her. I have told him that OUR son deserves better than that because he's no lightweight but 6 beers in a matter of 2-3 hours, after a LONG TIRING day, and hes buzzing like a bee. I told him I don't want my son to tell his wife, 30 years from now, the same stories that my dh told me {about his mom}. He would go to his buddy's house (an alcoholic, who is now divorced) and do shots, without me knowing, until he called and would say "uhhh we were celebrating (bullshit excuse) and I shouldnt drive" and then take 4-5 more shots, end up yakking all over my car. This happened multiple times until I told him he can't see that friend anymore!!! Thankfully he listened to me!!! We don't have the money for it, he has lied to me about it and now I am paying down a credit card because of it....

Thankfully, he changed. Finally. He has work, school, and flight lessons. He has no time to drink beer. The only time he drinks it now is with neighbors, every other weekend or so. I have no problem with drinking, in itself, but it was getting too much and it was about to snowball into something much worse.

OP, I just hope you aren't too controlling (not meant to be offensive) because if it runs in his family, he will find a way to do it without you knowing. That's how it works. If they want to, they will. If they decide they want to drink, they will. If he is not an alcoholic and you are just being controlling {again, not trying to offend} then you may be doing more damage than you know.

Anyway. PM me {this goes for anyone} because I been there and done that and am still married. It was hard but I got through it and if anyone needs advice, reach out to me.
