Editing because I wrote this while crying and its just terribly written so im putting in punctuation and cleaning up the grammar.
Im still so upset. For the past week I've seen this mutt around our neighborhood. I had never seen it before. We wouldn't see it every day but we go on evening walks and sometimes I would see it. It looked to be skinny and never approached us but I called animal control and then I didn't see it for a few days. Today I was on my way home from work and I heard screaming and I saw some kids running, so I slowed down and honked and they ran up to my car. One kid, a teenager said "Oh god please help my friend, he got bit by a dog and we called the cops but were trying to get to his house to tell his mom." I asked where and he said a friend stayed with him, he's on ____street, the dog ran off and the others ran off or to get help. So I gunned it and drove to ___ street right around the corner but i didn't see anyone laying there, however, I did see two kids, one bleeding, being chased by the same dog I had previously called animal control on. I didn't hesitate, I ran my SUV up on the sidewalk and rammed right into the dog. The cops came maybe 5 min later and I gave my statement then stayed with the kids until the ambulance arrived. It turned out the boy who was bitten was my next door neighbor's cousin visiting with his mom, poor kid. He had to have 47 stitches. The dog wasn't dead on impact so the cop called animal control at the scene. I want to ask what happened but when I called a different neighbor to get an update because I didn't want to call the mom, I just asked about the boy.
Anyway I'm just upset at the whole situation. I'm glad the kid is ok but who wants to hit an animal on purpose and who wants to see a kid hurting. The other kid was fine btw just shook up. Did I do the right thing? Idk what else I couldve done, no time to think about it.
