Why are you so proud to get food stamps?!

When I received them for a bit after my divorce I was mortified. I shopped at Food For Less where fs were common. I would not go to Ralph's or Von's. My dad even told me not to use them at the Ralph's he shopped at because they knew us and it was embarrassing! So why the hell are you guys so proud and why do you flaunt it?!

Who says we FS users are proud?  Maybe we just are not ashamed.

Okay I'm proud to use mine when I have them because it's NOT shameful to use them when you really need them. GTFO yourself

I'm a single mom of 2. I just applied for them and I work 5 days a week but I still need help. I am not ashamed. I don't sit on my ass and expect a handout. Sometimes people just need a little help. Nothing to be ashamed of

I am not too proud to admit that we fell on hard times and both lost our jobs at the same time as we worked for the same company and have not been able to find jobs that pay what we were making but we do work both full time and also qualify for food stamps I am not going to feel bad because I need help. I am not happy to have food stamps but i will not change my life just because of what I use to pay for my food. I dont care what people think about me when I pull out my food card because they do not know me and do not know my situation.

Food stamps feeds my children and my boyfriend. He works full time and I go to college full time as well as babysit on the side.. I'm not ashamed of getting help.. and when I can afford to give pa up then I will.

Why don't you talk about something of importance? A cure for cancer or AIDS... Maybe what you think could or should be done about the economy... Something other than why someone is proud to be on fs.

I happily used mine when I had them. Why ?!because it fed my kids after I lost my job. I felt no worse then than I do now.
