Why would she allow her daughter to do this in front of people???

I went over to my friends house for a playdate, I have a 2 1/2 year old and she has a 2 and 5 year old. When I was there her 5 year old went and laid down on one of the couches and started dry humping her hands(masterbating). The Mom didnt say anything to her and didnt try to stop her.

I dont think it is something a parent should allow their child to do right in front of guests. I expecially dont want her teaching my children that that is acceptable behavior in front of people. I refuse to go there with my children again. I dont even know what to say to her.

A lot of moms on here say its Ok as long as they are in a private place like thier room.
I don't agree for Such a young age though.

Awkward. It's normal behavior but I would tell my 5 year old to go into her room.

Did you tell her it made you uncomfortable? Mom might be in denial about what little one is doing.

I don't think a 5 year old knows what dry humping is, but if it were my kid, I would take them in a seperate room and tell them, they do not do that around others.

It's normal but needs to be done in private.

she is likely trying extinction out, by ignoring a behavior instead of making it a big deal sometimes a child will simply stop when they get no negative OR positive attention. honestly I would not pay it any mind. children at 5 are exploring their body and how their body responds to things.

I hear lots of stories about this type
Of thing but have personally never experienced it. Not with DD or any child in our family.
I wouldn't condone this type of behavior any where.

i'm one of those ppl that really suffers from lack of micro-expressions. I'm sure my eyes would have been buggin out n my macros would be quite obvious. I've never seen anything like what u described.
