When quiet down, time outs, corner, and all the "text book parenting" fails, it gets said. When you deal with my kids first hand and deal with what I deal with everyday, I'll listen to suggestion. The screaming and fighting of four children gets too much somedays. I have a daughter that lets NOTHING go. She presses on and on and on and drives even the most patient person nuts. They constantly tattle on each other. Contstantly yell. Time out after time out for it does nothing.
So, does this make me a bad parent? Do you think my kids have repeated it? You'd be surprised. Shut up isn't a bad word in my house. It's used sparingly, and it's quite effective.
