She has aversions to loud noises and is scared of loud things...like thunder and toilets...

Anyway she recently has developed a huuuuuugeee fear of public toilets...she always has been afraid of the flush but now she screams bloody murder if you try to sit her on a public toilet....shes been potty trained for a good 8 months or so, and doesnt wet at night.

So we reverted back to pull ups for outtings, and she even refuses to go potty in those!

I wouldnt care so much, but I am flying alone with her and my odd alone on july 18th, more than a 12 hr day!

Im sooooooooo stressed out about this flight now! Please help!!!!

Try headphones with music she likes. Use it during the day to get her used to it blocking the loud noises and purposely use lohd thimgs she is bothered by while she listens to the music.

Let her use a potty seat then, or let her pee her pants. She will pick one over going in her pants tho pretty quick

I cant get even get her on the toilet though. :/

Quoting svolkov:

Theb loud noises are a very common problem with young kids. It doesn't sound like a sensory disorder just a phase. I DO have adhd tho and am sensitive to loud noises, but that isn't something you could asses in a child that young. Just flush when she's all clear of the area and b patient

Quoting Hannahluvsdogs:

Can you put a post-it note over the sensor so it won't flush while she's sitting on it? My little sister was terrified of loud noises and public toilets too, but she has ADHD and being hypersensitive is common with that. Covering the sensor on the toilet worked for her though.

My granddaughter used to be terrified by toilest and vacuums. She's 6 yo. and has grown out of it. Just comfort her now and calm her down when presented with the problem. Good luck!

We actully dont make a big deal about it we take her to the toilet when she asks while we are out, if she throws a fit, we leave, end of story.

Quoting lilangilyn:

If you can find a post modern therapist for children, take her there. Otherwise, I have to make the observation that you are giving in to all this. So she gets lots of attention.

She only a lil over 3 (march 18) we asked her if she wanted to use the pull ups in public and she said yes, but now even that is a problem....sigh...

Quoting shivasgirl:

my dd did that too, I had to carry a potty chair in our van for her, you can get a fold up one for your airport trip...I wouldnt put her back in pullups tho, that is really a self esteem bust

DS does that too. He says it's too loud. Won't even go in public bathrooms. He doesn't have problems with any other loud noises.
