I have a bachelor of arts in romance languages.

I can't understand why I'm not able to find a job!! Gah!!! I want to move out of my in laws house and be able to help support my family!!

DH works at wells Fargo.

For those who don't understand what Romance Languages is, it means that instead of majoring in one 'romance' language, I majored in two. French and Spanish. This is not a useless degree-- it's very useful to be multi-lingual. That is all.

LOL   Perhaps you should re-evaluate your life.....then decide who the idiot is.  Remember the part about having a useless degree....and whining on Cafemom.  LOL!

IMO no degree is pointless.

Quoting militarywife09:

That's sounds like a pointless degree honestly.

Not always. Alot of the support jobs simply require a bachelors. Government jobs usually only care that you have a degree. However, California is hiring very few government jobs. Search government jobs.

I would absolutely love to work in the dpt of social services. But I think they require some sort of Social Work degree.

Quoting Katenemsmom:

Have you tried the department of social services? Often I will see jobs offered for bilingual individuals to work with communities. My degree is nearly as worthless - liberal studies and a lot that I'm qualified for want bilingual.

Are you proficient in those languages?  I was a Spanish major, taught it for several years and now am a SAHM.  I'm not even trying to work and I keep getting calls for tutoring, translating, etc.  I'm not saying that to rub it in, but rather to point out that your degree isn't useless at all.  It's actually REALLY in demand, especially if you're fluent in both Spanish and English.  Would you take a translation certification course?  You would get work easily and could make really good money.

You could become a certified court interpreter, they make very good money and my law office uses interpreters all the time.

Don't forget to put the word out with your friends and family. Also look into your alumni association and previous employers. That's what I did.
