to be able to take a shower without wrapping a body part in plastic wrap and trash bags :(

I had a vein rupture 2 1/2 months ago and had surgery 2 weeks ago and since the rupture 2 1/2 months ago I've had to wrap the compression wrap on my leg in plastic wrap and cover with a trash bag to keep it dry. Don't lie, I know you are laughing your asses off but it sucks :( Just thought I'd share.

Wow! I laugh at a lot of inappropriate things, but never something like this. That sounds awful. How much longer do you have to do that?

I really don't know. It's still about 4 1/2 inches deep so he said weeks to months :(

Wow that really sucks :( I'm sorry!

Quoting WesternNYmom:

I am sorry.  I had to do the same thing when I broke my ankle a few years ago.  I had to sit in the tub with my wrapped leg hanging over the edge so I could shower. Couldn't put any weight on my left foot, and It was to hard to try to balance on one leg for more than a few mins with that heavy cast on.  What really stunk about the whole thing was that dh had to come into the bathroom after I was finished to help me out of the tub as I had trouble getting in and out by myself without putting weight on my injury.  Not fun.

So sorry. Hope you heal in a hurry!

Quoting Aydans_Mommy:

Oh girl I completely understand how you feel. I have to put bags on my right foot to keep it dry when I shower. I had foot surgery a week ago.

It is wierd. You'd think after 2 months I'd be used to it but I'm just sick of it :(

Quoting mylovey:

I had to do that as well when I had surgery on my foot. I only had to do if for about 2 weeks, but it was a weird experience for me, lol.

Sorry you're going through that. I went 6 months when I was 11 in a full leg cast, so I kind of feel your pain. I also just got done going through this with my seven year old son who was in a leg cast for 8 weeks.

Ive gotten more cautious in my old age LOL.

Last thing I did was seriously mess up my wrist in line skating when I was like 16/17? 3 years ago-ish?

3 words if it ever happens again: press and seal. That stuff is awesome. It works better for a cast than the soft compression bandages they have me in but it's still awesome!
