What is the most significant loss you have experienced?
Thankfully, I have never had a miscarriage or a still birth and have only been through a few older family members passing away
the "worst" for me definitely would be that of my FIL. He passed on 1/4/12 from complications of liver cancer. I guess we were lucky in a sense that up until they took him off his oxygen, he was talking to us and we got to tell him everything we wanted to. He told us he was ready to go, they moved him from ICU into a private room and removed his oxygen mask (at this point he was in renal failure as well and nothing could be done) - within 3-4 minutes he was gasping for air, telling us he could not breathe and just wanted to "go". the hospice doctor gave him a high dose of morphine to "help" the transition. then I watched this man, who I loved like a father, take his last breath and turn blue right in front of my eyes. those images still haunt me and we are still affected by this loss :(

i'm losing my favorite uncle as we speak. he is dying of lung cancer. i am in pieces right now.
we hoped so too but it's anything but smooth. he's in so much pain.

My dad when I was 26
My soulmate when I was 33
i have two. i lost one of my best friends three and a half years ago. she drowned in her bathtub.
the other was more recent. i had to cut off most of my family. my dad still tries to harass us, though.
