Painful UTI

OMG its been so long since I had a UTI, it hurts so bad when I try to pee and it feels like I have to keep going. I don't have insurance so I'm going to stat care tomorrow, the pain just started today and got BAD suddenly. I had mirena in for the past year and a half and before that I was preggers, now I'm back on the pill so to be super cautious when they give me antibiotics how long to wait when the antibiotics are gone for no sex? And is there anything I can take to help with this wretched pain in the meanwhile? I am suffering awful. Help!

Nope! I read up on home remedies (none of them mentioned cranberries or juice), and whether I needed to see a doctor. I did try to go, but their power was out so they couldn't take me and I went home. By the next day I wasn't hurting much at all or having to pee every 10 seconds

Quoting Anonymous:

You didn't have to see the Dr? That's encouraging. I'm trying to force as much water as I can, when I go out in the morning I'm getting cranberry pills. I have had them before but I never had one become this painful so quickly its scary, it makes me wonder if I'm not passing a stone or something. I take a medication that says may cause kidney stones. It keeps feeling like I have to go but just dribbles come out, but I'm trying to suck down more water

Quoting chichiwvu:

drink a sh*t ton of water and make sure to completely empty your bladder each time you go (pretend you're pregnant and have a baby pushing on it, LOL). I had a horrible UTI a few weeks ago (first one I ever had - I thought I was going to die!) after increasing my water the pain went away in less than a day. I didn't even have to go to the doctor. It cleared up completely in 3 days.

No, just Azo. It's a UTI pain relief med. You can get it over the counter at any drug store or Walmart. I hope you feel better soon. :-)

Quoting Anonymous:

Is that a supplement? I've never heard of it...is azo short for something?

Quoting ambersmommy730:

Azo also helps. It changes the color of your urine and it stains your undies. I wear panty liners when I take it.

That prob wasn't a uti then...usually if they get the point of pain u have to get antibiotics. Sometimes u can get something in there (from sex,or wiping etc) and it can aggrivate your urinary tract tho

I took aleve and tylenol an hour ago and the pain is still overwhelming I'm afraid I told my husband I am thinking ER afraid, I really am wondering if its a stone, I have had several UTIs in life, not in years, and they never hurt this much, I can't even lay in bed without the pain making me feel like I'm going to faint (and I have already taken aleve and tylenol)

ehh.. everything was the exact symptoms of a UTI (like 5 of them). This is what I read. Look at the "watchful waiting" section. That's what I did and it worked. IT was a UTI, but not a very bad one I guess. It sure felt like it!

Ok, not sure if someone mentioned this yet, but you can cure an UTI with alka-seltzer.  It has to be the regular kind, can't be cold or flu.  I don't know why it works exactly, but I do know it works.  If it's really bad, I have had to drink 2-3 doses of it over a few hours, but usually one dose works.  Plus, you start feeling better pretty quickly.  I started getting UTI's right after the first time I had sex, and got them for years afterwards.  Luckily, it's not such a common thing for me anymore, but I can tell you sitting in a crowded ER for hours when you have to pee every 3 mins is awful, and this little trick has saved me many times.  :)

I didn't want to go to statcare til morning which statcare is not busy but I can't even sit still without horrific pain, and I already took 1000 mg of tylenol and 600 ib. Omg and its radiating pain, the last time I went I felt like I was gonna push a rock out, I'm wondering if its a stone, it if is I think I just have to get pain relievers and drink tons of water and pass it, if its an infection maybe its just crazy bad all of a sudden. I have never tried alka-seltzer. I am getting ready to see how busy the ER is, if they are super busy I'm gonna try this and pray its an infection and not a stone.
