Where are peoples manners these days? It's like they have no common courtesy at all. SO is a bit socially awkward and doesn't like social situations. I am a social butterfly and love being around people. He knows it bothers me that he isn't more outgoing and is trying to work on it.
Our plan is to have a cook out at our house at the end of this month and invite a bunch of people over-some he knows well, others not so much. We have invited nearly 20 ppl, and only 3 have responded with a 'maybe'.
I understand that many ppl have other obligations or simply don't want to go. It isn't rude to decline the offer, but it is rude to not respond to the invite at all. Common courtesy people!
Thank you very much ladies for encouraging me to do what I wanted from the beginning- good old fashion paper invites! I usually do them, but SO convinced me to wimp out and just do a fb event.
I am always complaining about how impersonal the internet has made everyone, and I have now become part of the problem. I will be rectifying this by sending out the invites first thing tomorrow!
Thanks again for everyone's input and advice on this subject!
