He works the night shift and doesn't get off until 11:30. He works in a safe, well lit, busy place and most of the route of his 15min walk are well lit. But once you get close to our street, it become less well lit and more of a suburban neighborhood than the busy street he works on.
Well, I woke up last night at 1 in the morning and he wasn't home. I got a little scared so I tried his phone and it was in the couch cushins. So great, he had left his phone home and I had no way to reach him. I got a little pissy and sat watching TV (I was up at this point, 29 weeks pregnant and not sleeping well anyway...). I hear him outside talkign to someone and he comes in and says:
"Well! I got robbed tonight."
He was talking to two police officers outside. He has a gash on his elbow, a split lip (on the inside) and a bruise/contusion on his cheek. (Looks like when he got his wisdom teeth out lol. don't mean to lol, just funny memories)
He describes them as 4 black teens that couldn't have been over 18. And if they were, no older than 20. Tall, two of them wern't wearing shirts, and they were all wearing Nike's.
They didn't get everything. Thankfully, he accidentally left his $400 phone home and they didn't get his expensive multitool and work gloves. But they did get his wallet, cigarettes, bank card, ID and the cash he had withdrawn for me because I needed money for the vet today. Among other items. And they got his backpack (which I gave him and I'm a little upset about. It was Underarmor, so kind of pricey).
Usually, my guy can hold his own and he used to carry a switch blade but recently stopped because the neighborhood isn't so bad. But when it's 4 VS 1, he didn't want to put up a fight and get seriously hurt or killed, and while he was somewhat close to the house, he didn't want to run here and let them see where he lived.
Like: "Hmm, the white boy had an iPod charger, a good amount of cash and a couple other good items. Let's see what he has in his house."
I'm so, so pissed off. I just hate these punk ass kids and their parents who obviously aren't there for them and teaching them right and wrong. Material possesions can be replaced (except for pics in his wallet), but he can't be. And I've very thankful he isn't hurt worse or dead.
I guess in the grand scheme of things, it could have been worse. And I hope (I'm doubtful) they get caught.
**UPDATE: He walked around our neighborhood this morning and found his ID, pictures and insurance card (among a few other things in his backpack like the bottle of Pepto. Didn't find the backpack, though.
Also! His bank called and reported suspicious activity on his account. So the punks tried using his card at a gas station up the street and it was declined. But they did use it on small stuff at a Walgreens and a 7-Eleven. So since he had filed a police report last night, his bank is going to contact the police and it'll make it a LOT easier for them to look at security tapes and get a facial ID and maybe even a license plate number.
Dunno if he'll get his money back that they used from his card or not. But I REALLY hope they catch these idiots before they do it to someone else.
He is lucky he was not hurt more.
Sorry that happened to him.
This one, the mom was in the store getting something I believe. And she saw her son at the register with a gun. She took it out of his hand & ended up telling police it was pellet gun!
Quoting hplesha:
Nope, I'm in mi. I don't remember if it was in this state or a different one
Quoting MSmama_x3:are you from ms?
I saw that on our news, I think it was in Jackson or Hattiesburg.
Quoting hplesha:
Glad he is ok. On the news this week, some guy maybe in his early 20s tried to rob a gas station but his mom walked in and stopped him. How stupid can you get?! Hey mom, take me to the gas station... ugh
Samantha

Make sure you cancel the cards that he found also. A lot of thieves will write down the numbers and use them months later after it is off your radar to check them. Sorry this happened to you guys, I hope S/O is ok. I'll bet he's pissed....
Oh, but black people aren't racist. He had to have done something to them first. Black people, especially young black teenagers, NEVER start things first, they ALWAYS have a reason. Then when someone sticks up to them all hell breaks loose..just ask George Zimmerman.
I cant stand thes anonymous idiots. You are the ones that need to be locked up in some mental institution. Im sick and tired of yall being so freakin scarey making all these racist remarks. B... please.. Every race has racism blacks, white, mexicans, asians, etc. So stop making this situation more than what it was. The problem is the teens have no type of guidance. Some are raised like that, some are just do it for fun. Since that dang George Zimmerman yall minds have been totally lost. Once again. George Zimmerman shot an unarmed teen. (i wouldnt give a damn black or white wrong is wrong point blank. He persued to take things in his own hands AFTER he was told to step off and let police handle it. So since you feel that blacks are always calling race cards what are you doing.
ok done getting pissed off at these lames hiding behind anonymous.
