My confession: I have never been to a dentist. *Edit

I'm 20 yrs old & have absolutely never been to the dentist. My teeth are not extremely white, but they're not nasty yellow. I brush & rinse once a day at least even though I know it's supposed to be 2. I could use braces, but oh well. ******** I know I need to go, but I have never heard of dental schools doing discount cleanings, etc. Also I have always heard how expensive it is even with insurance so I never thought to just call & see how much it would cost or even if I could find a dentist to see me without insurance.

So are dentures.
Set up a payment plan or see if there is a dental school/hygenist school in your area that does low-cost cleanings.

Because we don't have dental insurance & it is too dang expensive.
Quoting skylersmom44:Why don't you go?

My sister got some work done for next to nothing at a dental school. Maybe you can look into that.

I've had cavaties come & go, but it's going to be a while before I can afford to go. Even getting a payment plan.
Quoting Silvertears1275:I was a little older than you the first time I ever went. You really should go... your dental health is as important as any other part of your body! Plus, if there are cavities, you want to get them treated before they get worse and you need a root canal or lose the tooth.

We can't even afford a payment plan right now.
Quoting JadsW:
My dentist bills us & we can set up payment plans. Just saying. It's worth it!
Quoting Anonymous:
Until we can afford it I won't be going.

You really should go for cleanings, at least. Brushing & flossing can't get all the plaque & the longer you wait, the worse it will be. You'll have to go eventually, anyway, whether for cavities, wisdom teeth, or a root canal. Might as well go now, before something major develops. You're young enough that you can start going, now, & have a healthy mouth for years to come. :)

Ekk! It's better to go and get cavities filled before they turn into costly root canals and crowns. Also gum disease is linked to heart health so it affects more than your mouth.
