When I read about school supplies....

I am so thankful that we live in a public school district that has the means to provide supplies for each and every child. I don't have to worry about notebooks or crayons or whatever. They provide it all. They even have backpacks that parents can "rent" for $5 a semester. But I will be buying two pack packs this year (one of mine doesn't need a new one).

All I have to do is make sure that they have clothes on their butts!

I'm glad I researched the school district before moving.

*shrug*  I just know it's a factor when back to school time rolls around so I budget for it. It happens every year.

I've been on this site since 2006. You, ma'am, are the MINORITY! So many posts, each year, about trying to figure out how to pay for school supplies.

If we had to, we could. But, luckily, we live in a district that knows how to distribute funds and budget. When my kids reach middle school, they will each be issued a laptop complete with all programs needed for school. It's nice knowing that the parents who can't afford these things, won't have to worry BC our district can do it.

Our district is the same. I thought it was the craziest things when we moved here. Even the stores just have "suggested supplies" list. We always buy her supplies anyways just because it's something we really enjoy doing:)

Our school  had a list but it was so small we bought three of each and donated the extra.

Well, CM is the first time in my life where I have encountered people who can't afford school supplies. We have to buy our supplies but I kind of expected that when I had school aged kids.

In a city of about 500,000. I've only seen one other mom on CM who lives in the same city.

I love buying school supplies for the kids. It's a good time for me and brings back good memories.

So far the schools here don't ask for much, but I have no issues with buying what they need/ I just plan ahead and save up a little money to go torwards it through out the year, same with clothes

my friend's son's school is like that. you give them so much money (i think it's like 30 bucks) and they get all the supplies.
