Can you take things your children bought w/ their money?
Say your child raked leaves all fall and bought him/herself an Ipad or toy they really wanted. Can you take it away from them as punishment later, even if you didn't buy it?

I have. The way I see it I pay the electric bill (so they can charge), the rent (so they can keep it dry) and groceries (so they have energy to use it). Taking away his stuff is the only way I can get him to listen. He's 14 and has aspergers, adhd, and bipolar. When it's the only punishment that works you do it.

Quoting Mrs.Miller11:yes. Those things are a privilege, not a right. Besides, it is a child we are talking about, not an adult. As far as I am concerned, I dont care who bought what, as long as you live in my house, you follow my rules and if you dont, you get punished.

I wouldn't take something that wasn't mine but I would cut off the Wifi and stop letting them charge it at the house. You can't use the thing with out power or Wifi. You ever just been able to look at something but not use it? Its torture. Muahaha.
