I'm a smoker & probably always will be.

I don't do it in the house.  I know intellectually how bad it is for me and that it will probably kill me, but I have no desire to quit.  I'm sad that my kids will probably pick it up from me, but I still can't quit. :(

I have quit a million times. For 2 years once. But it doesn't look like I will ever quit for good either, I really don't have the desire to quit. I never smoke in the house and rarely do the kids even see me smoking. But my kids are older, the oldest is out of the house and has never smoked, as far as I can tell never will. The younger teens have been caught doing a lot of things I disapprove of, and have been punished accordingly, but thankfully smoking wasn't was of those things either. I can't really say any more because I am on my way outside to have a cigarette.

I'm a recovering meth and coke addict. 9 years sober.

Cigarettes are the one thing I can't seem to kick.

I hear you.

I loved smoking, I feel sad that I can't do it anymore.

Quoting Ashgambit:

Congrats!

Almost seven years for me :) I can't believe I managed to do it and keep away for so long.  It was the hardest thing I think I've ever had to do out of willpower alone!

Quoting PortiaRose:

Moreso than heroin. Btw, I'm ten days without cigarettes. :-D

Quoting coconut01:

I read it's more addictive than other drugs.

If you really wanted to you could. People do it cold turkey all the time, it just takes determination and a real desire. People who make excuses are weak.

You can quit but you've lost the desire to. That's something only you can fix.

Maybe when you see someone walking around with an oxygen tank because they have COPD from smoking you will change your mind. I know it may be very difficult to quit but you owe it to yourself and your kids.

Me too just thinking about quitting turns me into a chain smoker...Can't explain it. It really pisses me off that I have no self control yet can't seem to over come it FML. I think I am going to have to go do acupuncture or some sort of hypnosis or hell be locked in a room for two weeks with no way out.

I smoke too. I do not smoke in the house or car. Many friends of mine smoke in their house and it smells horrible. I seem to quit once a month for 3 days and start smoking again :(

You can do whatever you put your mind to do. It is LACK OF WILL that you "cannot" quit.
