So last month there was a flyer on our door from US bank and we thought nothing of it since we get flyers all the time. Well Saturday a guy comes knocking on our door looking for our landlord. Says it is about the mortgage and do we know how to reach her and who are we. We explain we are renting the condo from her. He gives us the same notice/flyer hanging on the dooras last month. I text landlord asking what is going on she states she is late on one payment. No way on hell that is true. I don't know much about mortgages but I know they don't come knocking on the door for neing a month late. I talk to my friend who used to work for WellsFargo and she confirms what I already thought. She hasn't been making payments most likely. Prolly 3 or 4 months. We have paid our rent religiously for the 7 months we have been there. What the hell os she doing with our $?!?. I am almost 5 mo pregnant. I guess I just wanted to hear some opinions on this and if everybody thinks/has had experience with what my friend said. I have already contacted my lawyer.

*update*
Looked at the county court records and called the sherriff's office and our condo, is in fact, in foreclosure. Sherriff's department said it will be up for sale in September. What kind of people do that?!?*

Yes. We did. It is my understanding once they serve a forclosure notice we will have 30 days to leave. This is coming from my friend who worked for a mortgage company. So I know we have a little time. Just waiting to hear what my lawyer says on how to go about approaching the landlord for an honest answer.

Did you sign a lease? If so you can't just be tossed out, even if the property is foreclosed or sold.

Start looking for a new home, and start documenting everything, so when you find a new place, you can sue her for moving costs incurred.

I'd tell her that I won't be paying rent as I'll need that money to move.

That is what my dh said. We are waiting to pay Augusts rent (not due for two weeks anyway) until I hear from my lawyer.
