Sexual intercourse by an adult with a person below a statutorily designated age.

The criminal offense of statutory rape is committed when an adult sexually penetrates a person who, under the law, is incapable of consenting to sex. Minors and physically and mentally incapacitated persons are deemed incapable of consenting to sex under rape statutes in all states. These persons are considered deserving of special protection because they are especially vulnerable due to their youth or condition.

It is the job of the minors parents/guardians to make sure she is never ends up in a situation where she could end up in a sexual situation. This means that even if a girl under the age of consent begs a man over the age of consent, even if she shows up to his house naked, sits on his face and wriggles, if he has sex with her it is rape.
Please warn you sons about this! Please!

I know what it is, but still DISAGREE with it when you are talking about a 16 or 17 yo CONSENTING to sex with her 19 - 21 yo boyfriend. I know LEGALLY he can absolutely be charged with it, but I find it WRONG.

Unless you keep your kid on a (tight) leash, how is it the parents *job* to make sure their daughter doesn't end up in that situation??  That doesn't make sense to me, sorry.  yes, I know what statutory rape is, but I don't understand how it's a parents job to prevent it unless they are by their kids side 24/7.

I get the concept but totally disagree with labeling someone as a child predator if they have sex with a willing participant that happens to be under age.

I second that! There needs to be some common sense and perspective.
