I've noticed a few replies about southern folk saying "crick" instead of creek. I live in northeast TN, and no one I know says crick.however my dads side of the family live in Washington state and Idaho and Montana all say crick. Believe it or not it irritates me.lol

As a native Atlantan...all I can say is "giggle snort"... ( soooo very true)

haha I talk like Mater & people assume I'm dumber than a bag of hammers *shrugs* & I'm not even a Southerner. ;) Though I did live in South Carolina for a while. I was born in the *whispers* North.

I say crick. I'm from Indiana :)

I say sweeper/sweep  too instead of vacuum cleaner/ vacuuming & people in California (where i live now) get SO confused. It's a bit funny how words can change depending on where you live.

We have signs here because of people doing that and they still do it. What gets me is the ones walking from one end of the 1/2 mile long bridge I live by to the other, with a child and fishing gear, that has absolutely NO shoulder AT ALL. Not even a white line beside the guardrail. Morons.

Quoting The_Doodle:

Oh and the ever popular (at least in my area) fishing on a road where it has a small bridge.
