when is it appropriate or okay? same sex only? close in age only? what about when the parents match too?
*I bought matching outfits for my girls, they are 13 months apart and DH said it's tacky :( its not like I always dress them matching, they have 3 matching outfits total out of two closets and a dresser full of clothes!

I think it depends on the occasion. I like to dress myself and my kids to where we don't clash, but not matching.
For my graduation, for example, I wanted to wear a red shirt with a cream skirt. My son was going to wear a white shirt with a blue stripe on each side and kakhi shorts. My daughter was going to wear a red, white and blue dress and silver sandals.
Not too matchy-matchy but we all sort of 'went' together.

As a twin I can tell you we hated that from a young age. People always bought us the same or matching outfits in different colors.

I have twins. I don't do the EXACT same outifts for them but I will do same outfits, different colors. It's just easier. If they don't want to dress that way when they are older and able to choose their own clothes, then that's fine with me.
