when is it appropriate or okay? same sex only? close in age only? what about when the parents match too?

*I bought matching outfits for my girls, they are 13 months apart and DH said it's tacky :( its not like I always dress them matching, they have 3 matching outfits total out of two closets and a dresser full of clothes!

I think it is cute when done for special occasions.

I am a twin.  My mom dressed us in matching outfits until I was big enough to start complaining.  I say go for it until your kids complain about it.

I think it's fine.  I would buy matching outfits for my kids for pictures when they were smaller.  Since I have a boy and a girl, usually just the fabrics were the same.  There is one store in our mall that specializes in that.

When we go on long driving trips, I make them wear the same color just so I can pick them out of a crowd really quickly.

that's how I feel! but he told me it was tacky!

I asked about the parent thing in regards mainly to pictures because we will do fmaily photos soon and I'm trying to see if it would be stupid to all wear the same color or if I should do the girls in one and he and I in something that is different but coordinates.

I think it's just fine for kids, and it can look really cute.  I think it looks really stupid when the parents match too.

My twins are 4 1/2. When they were babies if I had two of an outfit, they would match. Sometimes they'd wear the same outfit but dif colors. Now, they occasionally dress alike, but not much. Family pics and special occasions they dress alike. They dress themselves now. Somedays they pick the same outfits, sometimes not. I think it's cute, but it can be overdone.

One In pink the other in purple or yellow and blue
I have a friend with 2.5 yr old twins and they are dressed alike everyday from head to toe

My kids are matching right now. They love to match. They're 3 years apart, both girls.

Well they are only two and don't care if they even have clothes on at all. But like I said, when they are able to choose, they can wear what they want.

As a twin I can tell you we hated that from a young age. People always bought us the same or matching outfits in different colors.

Quoting Stephd710:

I have twins. I don't do the EXACT same outifts for them but I will do same outfits, different colors. It's just easier. If they don't want to dress that way when they are older and able to choose their own clothes, then that's fine with me.

I swore I'd never dress my girls the same.  Now they pick the same outfits sometime & want to match! I think they have 2 or 3 matching dresses.

My youngest son absolutely idolizes his older brother!  And they both love dressing the same!  I think it's adorable!  And I love, love, love that they are so close to eachother.
