Gun laws will only prevent law abiding citizens from owning them and in turn, defending themselves. A criminal is not going to stop mid-robbery and think "oh wait! This gun is illegal. I better just go home now."

Why does the general public need access to assault rifles? Honestly?

If someone had been carrying concealed, less people would have been killed. If someone opened fire here, 20 people would've taken out the gunman here.

In the latest shooting spree the guns were purchased legally. Same goes for most shooting sprees that happen in the US. Using the argument that criminals do not obey guns laws to justify not strengthening gun laws would work better, if it weren't shown that in most all these incidents the guns were not legally purchased. Problem is, they have been legally purchased so it shows clear issues within our present laws and system for purchasing guns.
