Raising a baby with a pitbull...

Why are people so judgemental about raising pitbulls with babies!? The background and how they were raised is what makes the dog, I have TWO pitbulls and they are the sweetest dogs. I would have tons more. (Not really, because I cant afford that but, you see what im saying) My pits have been with my baby since day one.

My family and my DH's family refuses to accept the fact that we have pitbulls and something is said about it EVERY TIME they are at our house. My DH finally told them that we would never put our child in danger and if they couldnt keep their mouth shut then they could just not come to our house.

Anyone else have a pit, german sheppard, rottie, or any other "dangerous" animal?

We had two pitties. Our twelve year old boy passed away in February. He was raised with our son. Our female is about 1 1/2. She was rescued when she was 10 weeks old. Both have been amazing with our son. Never an issue. He is 4 1/2. Our pitties have always been our babies.

I love pits. I am a vet tech and I rather handle the pits than the chihuahuas or dachshunds. I would love to have a pit but DF wants a boxer. I say no way on that because they are prone to cancerous masses. So we compromised and decided on a rottie...eventually. we want to buy a house first. For now, we own a cat. Lol.

I agree with you!

I'd be nervous with any dog and a baby though..that's just me, I don't view it like that for others.

The best dogs I've ever come across were my uncles Boxers..they were so sweet and good. They'd even have my uncles baby crawl on them and cuddle with him..stuff like that.

Yea as a matter of fact im 35 weeks pregnant and I wanted to get a puppy for my unborn son to be raised with. We decided on a blue nose pit bull and just got her about 3 weeks ago that way we could train her and get her settled in befor my son arrives. Its all in how the dog is raised !

I wouldn't do it but it's not my kid that might be a chew toy someday so do whatever you want!
