Well if you do, then I have a question for you. How do you prepare a speech in a college level. I have to do a speech (Tell me about yourself) for my Human Relation class (why we are doing I don't know but) anywho, I have not done speech since 1993! Any tips?
I always started with a list, then made sentences, then combined them into paragraphs. Write an opening statement and a closing statement. Make sure you know your speech almost by heart and look the audience in the eye when giving it. Dress nice.
Make sure your speech has a flow. An introduction, opening points, elaboration of points, a summary and a closing. Talk about what you know and don't get caught up in trying to impress people.
Also, try to avoid random "meows".
Well the speech (btw I dont really like her direction on it) we are suppose to do a speech as if we are asked (Tell me about yourself) as say like you are doing a job interview only we will be doing a class speech.
Not sure if I need to do an introduction first, then ramble on about my skills and yaddda, then a conclusion?
I know you said do not speak it as an essay but shouldnt a speech have an opening?
Quoting lovingwifey:DO NOT write it out in essay form. lol. Thats what I did for my first speech.
It has to be in outline form. I suggest using power point, it made it easier for me. Good luck! BTW I made an A in my speech class.
I just finished speech last semester. Start with something interesting or interactive to get your audience's attention, make your audience believe you have something worth listening to. Note cards are for chumps IMO, and are really distracting so I always crammed just key points in order on one card. hope this helps.
LOL well i dont think the meow will be an issue... I hope not LOL.
So my other question is, since this is an ABOUT ME speech, shouldnt I begin the speech like....
Thank you all for being here today to learn about me blah blah? No?
