pump the gas for the car and when the machine didn't print the receipt I had her go inside to get one from the cashier (that's the real reason she said I was mean, and she said it with a smile).
I don't have her do it because I'm lazy, because I was standing right out there with her. But different gas station pumps have slight variations and I want her to be comfortable doing it when she's out and about in the real world.
I'm a firm believer to make sure she's prepared for day to day life when she's out on her own. I have her do the grocery shopping once a month (including a shopping list and keeping in budget). She has her own debit card that she is responsible for (fortunately it cannot overdraft) and has to buy all of her own extras such as make up, some clothes and so on.
She also does all the housework at least once a month. What I mean is she does something involving all the aspects of running the house at least once a month, There are some chores that are just hers such as trash and picking up the dog poop and vaccuming downstairs, but sometimes, she will also do the laundry, ironing, dishes or whatever one time a month.
She also has to learn basic car maintenance before she can drive a car on her own.
oh boo-hoo she and my teenage son should ge together for a whine session
Ah, this wasn't about how your teen thought you were mean, but a post bragging about your teen mom skills, lol. That is a good though though, said with a smile.
She's 14, and she's a good kid with a great sense of humor about stuff. I did think it was kind of funny that is the thing she's complaining about.

Man if that's the topic about your 16 yo daughter you have to share, you have it sooooo easy!
Yeah, kind of in a way, but a little bit of a vent because somebody was complaing to me that she's too young to do some of the stuff she does and I don't believe so.

The dog poop in the back yard, she does it once a week.
Quoting LadyDarkNight:Pick up dog poop?
seriously .. my 8 year old gives me more attitude about her chores which are a whoppping : Clean your room, feed the dogs once a day, do the litter box, bring your lunch box in the kitchen when you're home from school, bring your dirty laundry to the hamper and put your clean clothes away and set the table when I ask.
