please add these companies to your list of places to never go to/ products to never buy again!!  All but 3 or 4 of these are on HRC's website as being anti-gay rights, either through donations, actions, or policies.  I'm currently working on something for another reason, and will post again when it's done... it'll have plenty of details.  But bottom line.... stay away from these if you're staying away from awesome chicken and trying to do the same thing you're claiming they are doing.  :)

Oh and by the way, these are just the companies that are anti-gay in a way.  This does not include the list of companies that are sexist, racist, negligent of animal rights, blatantly disregard the fact that they get their supplies by use of slaves, or knowingly promote human trafficking.  Where do you draw the line??  Are you going to stop dealing with all these places?

Target has just come out with a  very pro-gay ad campaign... they also were selling Pride T-shirts online to "raise money for a group working to defeat a gay marriage ban in Minnesota"....

And with that said, there is a freedom of religion, as well as the freedom FROM religion. I have the right to not believe in YOUR faith. Marriage, is not well defined, nor is it defined by the Christian faith. You ARE pushing your beliefs on others by not allowing gays to marry. That is YOUR faith, not mine. I have my freedom too.

I would just like to say that there are bigger issues than what companies choose to support. I love Target and Chick-Fil-A. I don't care what they do with their money, because last time I checked, it was theirs. If anyone chooses to boycott... cool. When I saw the news, 48% of poll voters said they would eat there more. I think this whole "controversy" just did the opposite of "boycott." I've got a son to take care of and Target takes care of all of his styling needs and Chick-Fil-A is just too delicious. And most of those companies listed do more good than bad. It's all opinion. And this was so yesterday. Oh.... you didn't get your info from wikipedia did you? Because that's all opinion too. Target is pro-gay. Get your facts straight before making accusations. It's just... tacky.

Let's go through your list..

3m was already discussed previously as being incorrectly added.

A-1 self storage, we don't have in our state, so doesn't apply here.

Auto-Zone, doesn't use profits to support anti-gay campaigns. It's claimed that they deny benefits to gays for their partners.. however many companies do not allow benefits for gay couples unless they are legally married and the state recognizes their legal marriage.  Most companies don't give benefits to ANY couple that just lives together.. Considering I just reviewed their policies on their website regarding this.. I call fail. I'd have to actually see a court case or new account regarding actual discrimination here.

Baby's r Us, and Toy'r r US, are listed in the HRC buyer guide because they are listed as needed improvement in equality in either their business or brands/products.. although I've yet to see them actually campaign against a group of people

Best Buy and Target were under fire for supporting a political canidate who happened to be opposed to equality for homosexuals.. however contributing to a political figure doesn't mean you fully support all that they believe in politically..however both best buy and target contribute to help gay rights.

boy scouts.. I have two girls.. and no, they wont' be doing girl scouts either..(for religious reasons)

Celestial seasonings DIDN"T donate to any campaign and that was why they were accused of being anti-homosexuals.. (because they wouldn't donate to overturn the laws in colorado.

Chick-a-fil... obviously is anti-gay rights.. and no I don't go there.

Cinemark/ Century/ Cinearts/ Cinedrome: yes donated funds.. there's your second correct one on the list.. and no I don't use their services either.

Cracker Barrel, yes was discriminatory for a time period against it's employees, until 2002, where stock holders voted against discrimination and has since turned around and has a no-discrimination policy which it strictly follows. So while it could have been on the list years ago, it no longer applies today.

Dish network doesn't have an anti-discrimination policy against homosexuals, and a proposal for it was shot down, they also refuse to have homosexual networks like Logo and here. so you have a third name on the list.. (no we dont' use them, we use time warner cable).

Dole supports gay rights... so dont' know why that's on the list.

Domino's pizza is the fourth that should be on the list.. as they contribute groups that oppose gay rights.  (and no I don't use them for our pizza either)

exxon/mobil is the fifth.. they don't financially support anti-gay campaigns, but don't offer benefits to homosexuals nor do they have an anti-discrimination policy (don't use them either)

Gold Gym made campaign contributions for a canidate.  No where near the same, again.

Humana, i've seen nothing about one way or the other..

John Deere supports homosexual rights.. not the opposite.

Keebler supports homosexuality rights.. did you not see the oreo cookie?

Kelloggs, found nothing to show that the company doesnt' support homosexuality..

Meijer doesn't have benefits or anti-discrimination policies to protect homosexuals, so here's another to the list, although i don't even know what meijer is..

Purina I see nothing for or against on

Radio shack.. see auto zone

Request foods, yes should be on the list for contributing funds to stop anti-discrimination laws

salvation army, yes should be on the list

walmart has made contributions to gay rights groups. (walmart and sams club are basically the same companies)

urban outfitters: the OWNER doesn't support gay-marriage, HOWEVER does not use the companies funds to support his beliefs.. in fact they sell t-shirts supporting gay marriage and rights, and the proceeds to gay right campaigns.

I seen the website, and covered this in my above post.. HRC ratings aren't based solely on discrimination of homosexuals, or discrimination on the companies end.. their rating system is actually pretty flawed.

Quoting mrsdic:

All but 4 of these companies are directly on HRC (human rights campaign) website, feel free to check it out.  I'm working on compiling all of that (not just with gay rights) into something that's not a cluster of a mess.... like I said, I will post again when I'm done with it.

Quoting jessi2girls:

Show the sources..

sorry, you can list what you want, but without sources backing up how each company supports the anti-gay campaigns and how..  it's just a bunch of words.

Honestly, there isn't a company that makes anything I need or can't find somewhere else.

Quoting mrsdic:

I stole your ecard, because I love it.

You obviously do have the right, just as they do, to decide where your money goes.  However, if you're standing up for something.... it should be on both legs, not a half assed attempt.... because if you pick and choose, you aren't really that solid in your beliefs.  If you are okay with a company because they make something you need or like, then you don't really stand up for what you're fighting against to begin with.

Quoting zianneaaliyah:

Maybe. Honestly, most of those companies do not make or sell anything really beneficial. If the list gets bigger, I'll decide accordingly. Just as much as anyone has the right to shop wherever they want, I have the same right not to shop where I want.

Quoting mrsdic:

So you're going to do it?  What about when the list gets bigger??  The companies that violates women's rights, discriminate based on race, etc.  Do they count too or is it only worth boycotting this one particular set of violations to you?

Quoting zianneaaliyah:

Kellogg's is the only one I'll have a hard time parting with.

You've been on this website long enough to know that this post has been done 10 times today. All the CFA posts and spin off posts were done at 5 pm Thursday night.

This is the first I've seen this, I'm sure I'm not the only one.
