Dd has a friend over. She hasn't seen her in months so I agreed she could spend the entire day here and night go to church with us then lunch and we will take her back home.

She is so quite but I guess that's until you get to know her. I made lunch. Turkey breast sandwiches with a side of chips.

She stared at it and said this is lunch? I thought we were going out to eat. I don't eat sandwiches

O_o

What the hell do I do? If it were my kid she would just go hungry but she's not mine. LOL.

I said its sandwiches for lunch but I guess she assumed McDonald's. Idk. She's 10.

She's not eating the lunch I made though.

She can be hungry. I would make sure to tell her mom you tried to feed her but she said she doesn't eat sandwiches.

lol because McDonalds is so much better then a good turkey sandwich. note the sarcasm.  We eat sandwiches all the time for lunch but I have to buy the cheap lunch meat lol.

Her mom text'd back. They don't typically eat cold finger foods. She said they generally are not sandwich people.
That was boars head Turkey too. LOL.

I would just let her not eat then and tell her parents when you drop her off you made her lunch and she didn't eat. Or call the mom and tell her what's going on, she may have a way of dealing with the situation that is reasonable to you as well

I don't know how that's a short order cook but ok.

Quoting Anonymous:

That's not a good idea in my book. I'm not a short order cook and since its suppose to be 105 I really wanted to keep my house as cool as possible by not using my stove and oven as little as possible.

My son is only 20 months so I don't have this problem, but for me when I was growing up my parents always passed it by us what was for lunch or asked for requests.

I think it's a good idea to give them some options. Soup, sandwich, grilled cheese... There are lots of quick and easy things to make. Give them a few choices of things you have and don't mind making. That way they'll like it and eat it.

OH HELL NO! See this is why I haven't ever really allowed my kids to have friends over. She would have gotten a huge stank eye. I may have offered something else, but would have made it clear to her that shit don't work like tht in my house

I'm curious to know what their idea of lunch is then, lol.

If she were a guest I would accomidate to a point, like ask her if she would prefer it if I took the turkey breast off the bread and she could eat it like that, if she doesn't like sandwiches or heat it if she doesn't like cold foods or something like that, but I wouldn't go make a whole other meal, we don't waste food like that in my house. I would tell her sorry, but thats lunch, she can add something to it or take something away to make it more apeealing to her, but thats all we've got to eat. Glad I raised my kid better then to be rude like that, this is one of the main reasons why I hate it when people are all like "I wont ever make my kid eat something they dont like" and they are talking about how their kid is so picky and will only eat a few certain things, its like, what happens when they go to someones house as a guest and turn up their nose at something their host worked hard to make for them. My children know that if they are a guest in someones home, they will eat what they are served and they will tell them how good it was, whether they like it or not, food is food and they worked to make that for them, spending their money to give them a good meal, they will appreciate that.

Because I'm not making more than one meal for more than one person. We all have the same things in this house.

That's not what I meant. I meant to give them some choices of things you are willing to make and they have to agree on one thing. I wouldn't make two things either.
