North vs South

It seems to me that people from the north are more open to things such as gay marriage or people of different races being married. Do you feel this is true or false? I just see the people I know from the south are more closed minded than those from the north.

Yep, most people down here are firmly ensconced in the Bible Belt. Things are slowly changing, though. Most people from my generation (I'm 29) are more open-minded than our parents, more accepting of interracial marriage, gay marriage, etc. Hell, my 26 year old white brother got married to a 30 year old Hispanic man in New York this year, lol... Sadly, you can still throw a stone and hit about four bigots in one fell swoop.

Ignorance runs rampant down here, I'm afraid. Have faith, in about 25-50 years, we'll be just as liberal as the North. ;)

Generally, its true.
Saddens me when I see things like the Mississippi study, where a huge proportion of people want inter racial marriage illegal. :(

Im from Mississippi was born and raised there. I live by live and let live. As long as people are not hurting anyone or causing a threat to the world then so be it let them live as the feel to live.

It's not a stereotype....
The southern states are more intolerant of gay marriage, inter racial marriage.
The states as a whole.
