Does anyone have a child with VATER or VACTERL association?
If so, I want to ask you some questions on how it got diagnosed and what elements of the association your child has.
I have a feeling my 13 year old son may have VACTERL, but none of his doctors looked at all of his birth defects and associated them together to catch it.
Be nice and keep bumped. Thanks!

He was born with a single umbilical artery which is common in kids with VACTERL. He was born with Tetralogy of Fallot. He was born with anal stenosis which is the mildest form of anal atresia. He has a diagnosed stenosis of his trachea, but I want to have his esophagus evaluated because I have a feeling it has a stenosis as well. He has also had a very hard time gaining weight which is common with children with VACTERL.
I am not aware if he has any vertebral defects, but it says they can sometimes go undetected. It also said not all areas will be affected in all children.
It is just strange that all of his birth defects present in the same areas as VACTERL.

Can you get a referral to see a Genetecist? Does he have any renal abnormalities?

He does not have renal defects. Although, the single umbilical artery is associated with the renal system.
