Got an odd question

How do I get my six year old to gain weight? He is on ADHD meds and taking him off of them is not an option. He weighs about 45lbs not sure how tall he is. When he takes off his shirt i feel so bad because i can count his ribs & vertabrae. I feed him constantly. I dont buy junkfood. His dr said to up his calorie intake and give him pediasure or something like it well he wont drink the stuff and i dont blame him its nasty. Any suggestions that don't involve his meds?

Does he eat constantly all day long? Try adding more HEALTHY fats in his diet. Like more whole fat dairy, nuts & trail mixes, avocado (if he will eat it), hummus, etc.

BTW my kids are little too but they are VERY fit. Both my 7 year old daughter & 9 year old son have 8 pack abs! Its crazy! They eat VERY healthy. Unless they are under weight then I would not be too concerned.

Try to get his calories in in the morning like vitamin D milk, whole grain toast with jam and some cereal and a bananna. Then make a good dinner with foods high in good fats like chicken strips fried in olive oil and homeade fries and veggies. It is what my friends mom did with her youngest who was on adhd meds that were doin the same for her. It worked. Tho she was giving her hamburger helper for breakfast..... Oh and eggs eggs have good calories in them. Sorry I'm hungry and can think of 10 thousand foods that sound good lol! Guess I better go cook dinner Lol!

My son was the same way for the same reason at that age.  (We did end up taking him off the meds because it got so bad we, including his doctor, were scared we had stunted his growth.  He's 15 now, taller than me and a big ol' hoss of a boy, lol.)  Anyway, have you tried those Carnation drinks?  You get the powder and put it in milk, they come in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.  I always turned to those to help up the calorie count for my kids when it was needed.  Try adding more snacks and more small meals instead of just 3 large ones a day.  I feel for him, I remember when my son was like that - he just couldn't stomach a full meal all at once.  So maybe try to spread things out more during the day?  Or at least the afternoon and evening if he's in school all day.

So...buy junk food. Sneak in calories. Add butter/cream/fat.

Eventually they will stop prescribing him those medications and it won'tbe "not an option."

I think it's by carnation its called Breakfast essentials, you can either get the premixed in the bottles taste just like chocolate milk or get the powdered packets(cheaper and come with more) and mix it really well into a glass of whole milk. Not sure if it will help but its worth a shot. Good luck!

Junk food isn't good for anyone and even more for kids

There are more cals in 1/4 cup of nuts and 1cup of milk then a snickers bar and a hell of a lot better not processed, pack with bad fats , and linked to childhood diabetes
