About a month ago, I was having a cookout. I couldn't get ahold of our regular lawn guy. So a neighbor referred me to a guy she used. He came right over and did a great job. He said he was a handy man. I also ended up hiring him to clean out our basement and a few more small jobs. About two weeks ago he came to do our yard and brought his NINE kids. Yes, nine. I payed the kids 3 a piece, and cooked them all hot dogs. Two days later, the guy and the oldest (12) came back. He told me they didn't have any food, and could I spare any. I cleaned out my deep freezer. I gave them a gallon of milk, bread, two packs of hot dogs, a 1lb bag of beans, and various can goods. Today when I came home, he's sitting on my steps with 5 of the kids. And guess what? They're hungry!
To be honest, I have nothing to spare. I gave them all our extra the last time. I don't go grocery shopping until tomorrow. You try to do something nice, and people take advantage. I now understand why people are so uncharitable.
