I went and bought my ds 4 of the nice folders because his rip easily through out the year. So I bought him the nice sturdy ones and he comes home today with a fucking paper one. ALL of his supplies, even the shit with his name on it, is in the group supplies. WTF?! That shit pissed me right the fuck off. He doesn't even get his pencils. He doesn't get any of his stuff it all goes in group supplies. I'm pissed. I didn't pay for nice folders for other kids to fucking use them. I'm going to the school on Monday and I'm getting his pencils, folders, crayons, and fucking markers and I'm bringing them home. He can take them to school with him from here. Fuck that.

Edit* These are ALL things that the teacher said to label with my DS's name. If I would have known they would go to group supplies I wouldn't have bought him the expensive folders. That's my point! I bought PLENTY of supplies that I knew would go for the group. But WHY have me label this stuff just so it goes into group supplies? He can't even use his nice folders?

That's stupid!! If you took the time to label it with his name you obviously bought it specifically for him!

I would get them back, too. I don't spend money on exensive shit to hand out to a kid that went to the dollar store. I buy good stuff for my kid. If it goes into a pot luck, I'm buying cheap shit.

yeah I think the stuff that the kids parent bought for them should be theirs if their are children in need then they should ask paernts to donate things not take the other childs stuff lol how in the world does that makes snese :O)

my girls wont be in public schools either but Ive heard of private schools doing it now too.

Quoting MamaJAG:

I don't like it either.  I guess it is so the kids that can't afford stuff have things, too.  We have the option to inform the teacher that his supplies are HIS supplies, but I don't know that I'm going to do that.  I just plan to buy decent quality but inexpensive supplies.  One more reason I don't like public school.

It's not the fact that it's important it's irritating. She said to label those things so I did. I bought the nice folders especially since I know he ruins his all the time. I didn't buy him the cheap 15cent ones because I knew they would be ruined in 2 weeks. But why would she have me label the stuff with his name and yet not let him use it.

I send double the supplies normally and then throughout the year send in more. It's not about the money. It's just stupid to have me label the things and buy a specific thing that he is supposed to be using and yet he isn't using it. KWIM? I knew he would go through the folders so I bought the better ones for him.

Quoting LiesLiesLies:

I don't see the problem. Perhaps speak with the teacher if it's that important? Tell her thats one thing you wanted to be his?

I don't know...I even called the teacher today and told her to call/email me if she had any kids in need or needed classroom supplies and I could pick them up and bring them to school...

It's no different than letting my DS pick out snacks and then letting his friends have some when they come over. It's a folder.. Not a big deal. Certainly nothing for OP to get upset about.

Quoting amanda_mom89:

There's something wrong with sharing when you buy something specifically for your child that they don't even get to use.

Grow up. What is wrong with sharing?

I do not mind donating at all.. But when you buy your children their supplies, the child should get to use them.
