Question for anyone who uses a clothes line for drying clothes!!

Ok. I'll admit I am far from old-fashioned. I take my washer and dryer for granted. Well, my dryer broke down and we can't afford to fix it just yet. We have been hanging our clothes on the line outside to dry, but they get all stiff and the towels are never soft. Any tips on how to make them soft and fresh?

ETA

I was originally using dryer sheets in the dryer, and everyone has been telling me to switch to liquid softener now in the washer. I will give that a try. Thanks ladies! :)

Do you use fabric softener? We have been having to hang our laundry also, and I use extra fabric softener and it helps. The towels are still not quite as soft as I would like them, but definately better than they were the first few times I had to do it.

That is how we do it...it still doesn't quite bring back the fluff, but it does take away some of the crunch!!

Fabric softener will make them a little better, but towels and jeans are always going to be stiff

For me, fabric softener makes a difference when I line dry. But a little stiffness can come with the territory. I figure its better than paying to dry clothes.

The stiff towels are much better for your skin. I hate when they are so rough but I just remind myself of that so it makes it a bit better when I'm drying off.
