What electronics do your kids have?
This is the case for the iPad:

BTW, thought I would share all DH's and my toys :)
We have two PS3's (one in the living room and one in the bedroom, DH takes one with him when he deploys so we can play together), and we both have iPad 3's, one laptop, two desk top computers, and two cell phones. We also have a wii, and DH has an iPod. :) And a 3D TV. (We do work hard to play hard, as many gamers will tell you!)
I'm sure if I was trying to brag, I would have came up with all the toys my DS has. Or I would buy the vtech reader and the Fisher Price reader, too. I'm definitely not trying to brag :/
Quoting imultracool:Sounds to me like you are just trying to brag. Blah.
My DS has my old busted up phone that doesn't work anymore
Say we keep it for 3 years, that's like $200 a year (the iPad was $600something..). I'd say we more than got our money back. But, I'm guaranteeing it is going to last longer for DS, anyways. Not that it matters, DH buys new cell phones once a year, he bought the Droid bionic last year before he deployed, it was $600. Boys and their toys!
Quoting Anonymous:good luck with- there will be something new and better in a year or two. most laptops and computers are outdated in about 6-8 months
Quoting Anonymous:How does that even make sense that the toys you bought your kids are the normal electronics a one year old should have, but an iPad is not? The iPad we bought DS will last years, hopefully until my DS is in high school!, while your kids will soon forget about their vtech/fisher price toys, because kids grow out of baby toys, sooner than later!

My one year old has a vtech sweeper and a fisher price picnic basket you know the normal electronics a one yr old should have..
BTW, I know that Apple comes out with new iPads once a year, but people still have their 1st gen ipads, two years later...
See! I'm glad some moms are on board with this! I honestly wanted the XYboard, but DH made us go iPad...

We aren't crazy about kids playing video games, we don't even have any consoles, but I got an iPad a few months ago and there really are some GREAT learning apps for the kids! I'm getting both of my kids (2 & 4) iPads for Christmas!

I see your 3 iPad 3's, laptop, 2 desktops, 2 cell phones, and 2 PS3's and raise you:
a Wii
an Xbox with Kinect
an iPod touch
one more laptop
and a Nook Color.
