We are a family of three.

We make almost a $2000 a month.. but yet we still have to borrow money. We are always repaying money because we borrow.

$1000 is rent.

We have no credit cards. We use the bus. Its approximately $100 a month. So we have $900 left.

Groceries (special diet due to DD who is 2) is approximately $500 a month.

Pulls ups (diapers) is approximately another $80-100 a month.
So we are down to $300 a month.

We have internet and cell phones (I work at home so I need internet. Dh needs his cell phone for work we do not have a house phone.) So that's about $200 a month. So we have $100 left.

Dhs meds are $70 a month. So we have $30 left.

Electric is $140 a month.

So we are negative at -$110.

How can we save? I have cut everything.

I have no bought myself any clothes for approximately 3 years. No new clothes (or used even), no makeup, no anything..

Dh does have to buy work clothes when his get ruined. They don't like to see stains or crappy shoes ect.. so that can cost another $100 every once in awhile. He has to have a nice hair cut which us $30.

I live in Canada so shit is expensive.

Im worried about birthdays and Christmas coming up!

All my families birthdays are in October, November and December. (My sister, brother, father, myself, DD, dh, and dhs mom).

I just feel so bad. I can't believe we are in the hole every month and a week we are dry. I mean counting pennies dry! We do not go out. We for not rent movies. We don't buy name brand food. We don't spend any money on junk.

I'm sad now :(

Can you cut the electric bill? Downgrade the speed of Internet?

What about car insurance? And why are you spending so much on diapers?! Is that normal?

How about using cloth trainers? Also work on the food budget. We are a gluten, soy, dairy, and egg free 100% organic family of 4 and spend way under that a month.

2 moms liked this

Can you find a cheaper place for rent? 50% of your income is a lot to put toward housing.....

There has to be a way to cut your grocery bill. I spend $800 on a family of 6. I know things are more expensive in Canada.....but are you making everything from scratch? Right down to bread? That will cut costs a lot.

Do not worry about b-days other then your DD's. That is just how it goes when your broke. Your family will(should) understand.

Stop buying pull ups and either put her I'm undies or cloth diaper. Also I thought healthcare was free in Canada. Doesn't that cover meds too?

potty train her in undies or go cloth.  pullups are more expensive then diapers.

rent should only be 1/3 of your paycheck and its 1/2 of yours.

I forgot to add diapers. Why so much? I didn't spend that much when I had 2 in diapers. Pull ups are more expensive then diapers so if you are buying those stop. You could cloth diaper to save as well.

We don't own a car. We use the bus.

We don't use lights, my mom bought those light bulbs that save energy or something? We use those when we do use lights.

I just downgraded it but I can't anymore because of my job I would go over the gb usage.

Her diapers cost $20 for 21 diapers.

Its the only ones that don't cause a rash.

Trust me I tried them all!

Try buying padded undies for dd, hand wash n hang dry tell you get enough for laundry. Open windows turn air temp up. Try something on the side to help, maybe dinner baby sitting? For friends who wanna go out on a date?
