Today was my first day back teaching! My second graders are really slow at learning, they are very far behind compared to my last group :-( I was so sad!

Vent over. Any advice?!

Today most of he kids were on point, while others were crying because they didn't want to write :-/

Teaching can be a challenge sometimes. Sure, it would be great to have all the eager to learn kids in your class every year, but that's just not how it works.

Be patient, and keep working with them to help them catch up. You could really make a difference here for some of these children! It'll probably force you to become an even better teacher than you probably already are! :-)

Ask their parents to help and send some packet stuff home? Find something they are interested in and incorporate it into a topic as part of the teaching? Class project or competition?
