I had points taken off a discussion board assignment for an English class. When I asked the professor why I lost points his response was I did not follow the syllabus requirements. He is 100% correct that the syllabus states we must reply to 2 students in discussion.
This specific discussion board (unlike the other 15) states:
Respond to one classmate, and be sure to respond to someone who has not already received a response. Write an actual response to the formal letter, one that helps your classmate see how an audience might respond to that message.
I believe I should get full credit because I purposely only responded to one because of these instructions. My grade would be 100% in this class if I had received full credit.
My response to him stated that I attempted to follow the specific directions of this discussion. Should I go above the professor who will not change it? My grades are extremely important to me, but I worry going above him will cause him not to like me and score my future grades lower.
