I'm gonna be a Crappy Mean Old Gramma Someday, YAH!
I admire my inlaws they travel frequently, going to Hawaii in May, taking my teenager as part of her graduation gift.
They don't babysit so we can work, go to school, play around, they do babysit when we want to go out for one night (mom and dad night for bondinig) or our anniversary or birthday.
We do not "depend" on them to provide services, funding, or finances.
I do not consider them greedy, they are in their Golden Years enjoying the remaining last part of their lives.
They still work in the family business, and leave on trips monthly.
I WANT TO BE JUST LIKE THEM.
I knowz :) We felines do think very higly of ourselves :)

Lol @ your comment to yourself
Though, my mom passed away & dad can't babysit, because his SS is a pervert (no lie).
DH's mom has babysat for us MAYBE 10 times in a 13 year span & DH doesn't have a dad.
DH's grandparents helped us out financially when we were teen parents, but since then (13 years later) we head out to their house & do all their yardwork & house chores. We plan to be their full time caretakers once they lose all independence.
I could never be with a man that relied on any of his family for anything. "Favors" are one thing..... Not being able to provide for yourself with them, is another. :/
Yea but see here is the real issue (invisible unstated issue) is that if my teenager gets pregnant, I wont be babysitting and will continue to aim and live for my luxury golden year life :)
How about you?

Babysitting is fine meow. But I was told Im an asshole because if my teen gets knocked up, Im an asshole gramma that wont stop my world and gi ve up my plans and take care of that grandkid so she can complete her mission in life while mine either gets delayed or stopped all together. *Stares*

If the choice is between the proper care & needs of my grandchild, OR my own freedome during my "golden years", I'd choose my grandchild handsdown!
Not that you are wrong for feeling differently. Just that I don't have much of a confidence that my (specifically my own) teen daughter would be able to grow up quick enough. :/
