Have you ever had to use a fentenal(sp?) Patch for chronic pain?
I have stage 4 endometriosis and am in excruciating pain every month. Surgery can't help me. I had it, and it couldn't be removed. I'm currently on 7.5mg of percocet while on my cycle. It works pretty good. It makes the pain tolerable.
Well my primary doctor sent me to a pain management doctor today, thinking he might be able to help me with something that's longer lasting or long term. So I went to my appointment today. He wants to put me on a narcotic fentenal pain patch. You wear it for 72 hours and then put a new one on.
I remember hearing about this drug from those "bad drug" lawyer commercials. So I googled it. Apparently its 1000 times stronger than morphine, and if used wrong can be fatal, or people who have used it right, had a fatal reaction to it.
This scares me A LOT.
1. I am a single mom. I don't want and don't need to be all drugged out and high.
2. The percocet I have been taking helps for the most part and I don't mind having to swallow a pill every 4-6 hours when I'm in pain during my period. And yes, I did mention to the doctor that the percocet does help.
3. I am scared sh*tless to try this medication, as I am very sensitive to medications and have had lots of reactions or are allergic to meds.
So if you're on it, does it make you super loopy? Any side effects? Does it help your pain? Would you recommend it for someone with monthly chronic pain?
