Stress, probably. Some lose weight too. It depends on that person's relationship with food, really.

 Some people are stress eaters. They eat more when they are depressed or going through a major life event. Its a coping mechanism. Everyone copes differently.

Stress and depression can cause one to eat more. That and lack of motivation. I was the opposite though, I developed an eating disorder and quit eating.

Different people react different to stress and depression.

They are eating their feelings. And stress wreaks havoc on the metabolism.

uh probably b/c you eat more (out of boredom) and aren't concerned with exercising.

if you're not having to make dinner for a family then you may be going to more drive thrus or using freezer dinners whereas you wouldn't have before.

 My friend lost thirty pounds because she was sick over it and couldn't eat.
