My old car finally gave in and we have nothing in savings...so DH had to spend the rest of our food money to put a down payment on a car. We had to go to a foodbank today to get food to last us the next week. I am so thankful that they were there when we needed them. So to everyone who donates to local food banks...thank you! okay where to begin...I did not complain about the food. I simply siad it was stale. Hell beggers cant be choosers right? It will keep my kids from going hungry so whatever. I did search for a cheaper car with cheaper payments and all, but in the 6 car lots we checked into, surprisingly there were none. My DH works 17 miles away...UP and Over a steep mtn...so yes a car for us is a need. I KNOW THERE are other ways but not here. Walking, biking and riding a bus are out of the question. There are no buses around here. I could call the closest taxi service from over 50 miles away, but then I would be paying over $200 a day just for him to get to work!

There was a time when I had to use the food bank for about 6 months.  Since then, I always donate to the local food bank, several times a year.

As a social worker for over twenty six years, I have been very grateful that many families in need have this resource in the community,

a "down payment" on a car?  You're financing a car while living this much on the edge?  Really?
