If you are driving down a road and you see a gate with guards standing there. It is probably not a good idea to drive up and start questioning the guards.

Thanks.

Apparently this happened this morning on our base. Some guy drove up and saw guards in uniform. A welcome to XX Air Force Base and asked if he could come look around.

 UPDATE

There are two kinds of bases....open access and closed access.  Open access allows civilians with a valid ID to enter.  Closed access requires civilians to be sponsored onto the base by someone with a valid military or DoD ID.  Our base actually runs your drivers license through a system and if you have any warrants outstanding they do not allow you on base.  I have absolutely no reason to make this up.  It was not meant to be a drama post or an attention whore post.  If I wanted to do that I would ask you crazy people if I was pregnant with a space aliens baby or tell you that I am buying pizza on FS.  That is all.  Done arguing with those who think they know everything based on limited experience.

In order to enter JBSA locations, visitors are required to have a valid form of identification and to have a sponsor with a valid DoD ID card.

For information and questions concerning sponsor procedures, email your local visitor control center:
JBSA-Fort Sam Houston JBSA-Lackland JBSA-Randolph

VALID FORMS OF ID:

Military (active, reserve, national guard, dependant, retiree) Passport (US and foreign upon prior coordination)
State issued driver's license State issued ID cards
Brooke Army Medical Center badge Contractor card
US issued visa (work, travel, or student) DoD civilian
Driving on Base:
Drivers on JBSA locations must have a valid driver's license, registration and proof of insurance; obey posted speed limits; wear seat belts at all times; use hands-free mobile devices.

He was told no and kept questioning. The guards are armed. Shit if I drive up to some areas without proper ID they draw guns immediately.

It is an Air Force base. No civilians unless escorted by someone with proper ID.

who told you that , lmmfao. BTW Fort Bragg is connected to Pope Airforce base. ( army took it over last year) BUT the fact is all you have to do is get a visitors pass. I live on Pope. I have for 3 years. Civilians work on air force bases, civilians can come for events, fairs, and for any reason, even to just look around. YOPU ARE WRONG> We have been military for 7 years and lived on both Army and Air Force bases. A visitors pass take 5 minutes and costs nothing. How the hell do you think people get on for yard sales? Fourth of July events? Fairs? If you know nothing about a subject, shut up!

you are lying your ass off! The NEVER pull weapons on anyone. MPs can only pull a weapon if pulled on. My brother is an Air Force MP. three of our neighbors are Army MPs. I go through a military gate at least three times a day. Why are you lying?

she is lying or grossly exaggerating! I live on an Air Force base connected to Fort Bragg. It is BS. There is a designated "visitors lane", you show your license, get a car search, get a pass, and go on base! This chick is lying and I don't know why///LMMFAO

It may be like that at some bases but at our base, unless you are escorted you're not getting on. You can't even call the gate and vouge the person on, you have to physically be with then now. We are always in 100% id check. I couldn't believe they didn't want to see my id when I went to see my dh at another base!
