Daughter just put this on her fb page.

"So we have to buy our own scantrons for college?? What the crap!" ONe of her college peeps said I KNOW and they are NOT cheap either!

SO i text her and asked what she is talking about.

She responds and says that every professor requires them to buy their own scantrons. You can buy them in a pack of 4 and they have to be a certain kind. 883-e i think she said. Some of her professors have 5 tests so that is one pack of 4 plus an additonal pack for 1 more test. She is taking 5 classes.

So i ask her how much are these scantrons? and she says 25 dollars, mom!

seriously? seriously? i'm going to check around and see if i can find them someplace cheaper..gotta make sure that code is right, first.and send her a box of them to split with her friends.

I'm paying nearly 200 a credit hour to send her there..you THINK they would at least provide the stupid scantrons.

STUPID!

It is totally normal. College is not public school. Prepare to pony up a ton of money. The scantrons are mrked way up it seems. Mine were a dollar or two for a ten pack when I was in college 4 years ago.

I had to buy my own and our test booklets too I think it's normal because it was the same way at my school in the US and in the UK.

That's ridiculous. :| I could understand a public school, as funding is always being cut and more and more teachers are having to ask students to buy ALL their own supplies, but a COLLEGE? All I had to actually buy for classes was textbooks and basic supplies (paper and pens at least... folders and binders and such if I wanted to be organized). And that was just five years ago.

Quoting TraceyMR:

It is totally normal. College is not public scholl. Prepare to pony up a ton of money.

200 a credit hour plus fees plus a nearly 500 parking sticker..and then to hear the president makes over a million a year.

just kind of pisses me off a tad. lol.

Well my school is 760 a hour so be glad it is just 200 and mine don't include books, uniforms or any supplies. I would love for mine to be that cheap!
