I'm on PA. Me, my wife, and our 2 kids receive food stamps and medical.
We lost our house in february 2011, had to move to a different state to live with family, and both started going to college to better ourselves and help keep from falling on our butts again.
My wife is in college for medical assisting currently and I just graduated college with honors and will be going to my schools career development center thursday to apply for jobs so I can finally start working as a massage therapist which is what I've always dreamed of. I also plan on furthering my education and becoming a nurse.
Not everyone on PA is lazy. I've worked my ass off to get through school so I can have a good job and support my family. My wife works at the school and attends classes. And seriously, I will be so happy when we can stand on our own feet and not need assistance from anyone anymore.
Yes, a lot of people are lazy and just mooch off of the government and give the rest of us a bad name, but we aren't all like that.
My wife and I do volunteer work, donate to shelters and others in need, and we are going into job fields where we can help more people because we know what its like to need help.
I hope this has restored some of your faith in humanity.

Good for you for bettering yourselves. I am slowly getting off pa. I now make enough to not need food stamps and I'm working towards getting insurance so we can drop the medical as well. It's nice to know it is here when we need it.

Because that's how life works. You're paying for me too - thanks! :)
