I live in a town of roughly 50,000 I am a city girl so to me this is small, it used to be a very quiet town even with all the people. Within the last 2 months we have had a drug raid, busting 75 people, 10 deaths from heroin, 2days ago someone Hung themselves in the backyard of the house across the street, (we know the ppl across the st. Noone knew who this person was.), and a man hogtied his kid Hung him from a porch and let his neighbors vicious (it was trained to be vicious, I have 2 pitts and they are amazing loving dogs) attack the child, among many other various crimes that "just don't happen here".

This sickens me!!

How is it changing where you live?

Yea that is not a small town, you are from a big city and now live in a smaller city...

Ummm nothing has changed here, our not changing is what might be considered odd. Same town of 3700 people for the past twenty years with very little change. No crime to speak of in any form more serious than a misdemeanor.

My city, roughly the same size, is doing rather well. It's a business friendly state so there are plenty of jobs to go around and little desperation.

That is not a small town....

I live in a town of about 10,000. A good school friend was murdered by someone on heroin last year. They have drug raids at least once a month. Theres a good number of robberies as well but we're better off than neighboring towns.

We're also hanging on to a single industry vs 4 industries 5 years ago. The city is now the 2nd biggest employer, followed by Wal-Mart, then the Railroad.

Yay. We are looking to move within the next 5 years maximum.

Hmmm. So OWEBAMA's failed economy and policies are now reaching into our small quaint towns... Shocking.... I feel awful for you. Hopefully more people will begin to understand that association and vote accordingly this Nov.

Well they just opened a Dollar General, so I'm pretty sure we've reached the beginning of the end here!

It used to be a quiet suburb and now its over populated, over commercialized. Ugh I hate it. The apartment complexes are full of people who less than care about the area and only moved there to work closer to Wal mart or Target or Ford or Wendy's. Omg we have 7 car dealerships. Over 100 places to eat and drink, 15 mini strip malls, 9 apartment complexes, houses EVERYWHERE! and a third of them are for sale because everyone that lived here twenty years ago in what was a nice place to raise your kids, is turning into a mess nobody could have imagined. I've been to 9 heroin funerals in the last 2 years. I have NEVER been to a drug funeral until then. The kids in the schools are out of control. Well rated, but scary smart and sneaky and mean. The main roads were covered in construction for two years to widen the roads for all of the traffic. During that time any small businesses on those roads suffered, many closed. Everyone wants me to buy a house here but I don't know if I want to stay here. I don't want to see if its going to get worse. They just built a casino down town, half an hour away. All those new workers and their families have to live somewhere, and no one wants to live IN the city anymore. It's insane.

Yeah, things are changing here too and it's going to sound awful when I say it but it's happening. We were a small town of just about 3,000 people when I moved here five years ago. In the past year there has been a major influx of illegal aliens moving into the area. The schools have swelled with their children and the amount of kids on free lunch and breakfast is astronomical now. I sat in the breakfast area the other day and out of 35 kids eating free breakfast 26 of them were Hispanic children. A good number of these kids don't speak English in the younger ages and now instead of having a speech teacher in each school they are sharing one between all the schools to provide translators. The amount of domestic calls have gone up, drinking and driving is up, and beer bottles are everywhere.
