Not paying a pay day loan?

A friend of mine took out a bunch of pay day loans that she can't pay back. She changed her account number so they couldn't take the money. A cousin of mine works for collections and said they legally can't collect them. Has anyone not paid back a pay day loan? What ended up happening?

How much were they

Quoting Anonymous:

In our experience it depended on the amount.

My DH had one and they got it. I had one and was never pursued. His was considerably larger.

I'm disgusted that so many people think it's ok to take out a loan, spend the money and then just not pay it back.

No wonder our country is so fucked up.

NEVER EVER use Money mutual. It's that online one with Montel Wiliams doing the commercials. You fill out the application on the Money mutual website, but them it sets up your loan with another company. Some are ok companies, and others are straight up SCAMS! The thing is, you don't know which ones are the scams until your next payday and they go ape shit on taking a bunch of your money.

Ace Cash express is an ok company. I live in Wa state and they changed the laws here where there's a database that all loans are in. The state did this so you can't take out multiple loans with different companies. Each time you take out a loan they chech the data base to see if you have any outstanding loans. You are only allowed one at a time and 8 per yr here.

It depends on the state, I don't know why they even operate in mine, because here once you collect a certain amount of interest on a loan, regardless of a contract signed, there is no legal action they can take.

One person came to my work ...

Quoting Pink.Frosting:

I used to have a friend who worked at one of those places and if someone stiffed them they would actually go to your house and do an in person version of a collections call!

Not everyone takes out these loans with that intention.
